redirect_to and paths

Reported by Xavier Noria | August 15th, 2010 @ 10:54 PM | in The Rails 3 Way

Section 2.6.2 says that redirect_to "seems" to work with relative paths.

Yes, it does. If the argument is a string that is not an absolute URL, it gets protocol, host, and port (unless port is the default for the scheme) prepended.

That sentence could be reworded to simply assert it does understand absolute paths.

I personally find that url helpers are more coherent with redirect_to than path helpers. Although absolute paths are supported, I do not use this feature.
